EECA ticks Goodyear and Dunlop tyres

GoodYear_Assurance_2014More than 186 new tyres have been given the Energywise mark of approval by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) which is part of a new programme to inform consumers about fuel efficient tyres.

Amongst that number EECA has approved more than 100 Goodyear or Dunlop branded passenger and SUV tyres as being fuel efficient allowing them to use the Energywise-approved tyre mark.

EECA has recently launched the Energywise-approved tyre mark and website tool to inform consumers of the tyre options available to them in the market.

It says that Energywise-approved tyres must meet strict criteria for both fuel efficiency and safety in wet conditions, in line with internationally accepted test methods and standards.

Goodyear and Dunlop say that a key focus been on increasing the fuel efficiency of tyres without compromising on other safety attributes such as wet and dry braking.

“To have so many of our tyres recognised by EECA and Energywise as fuel efficient, is validation of the work we put in to deliver benefits to our customers,” says head of technical, product and aviation at Goodyear and Dunlop Tyres New Zealand, Bill Prebble.
