Dealerships make the most of Speedshow opportunity

A number of high profile Auckland car dealerships, as well as OEM manufacturers, made the most of the CRC Speedshow to put their respective brands in front of thousands of visitors.

The Ferrari division of Continental Car Services, The Giltrap Group (Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini), Winger Hyundai, Peugeot New Zealand, Ford New Zealand, Toyota Racing Series, and authorised Ford performance parts and tuning specialist CTB were all present at the event.

During the Speedshow weekend Winger Hyundai capitalised on the appearance of NZ rally driver Haydon Paddon who is currently campaigning a works-team Hyundai i20 in the 2015 World Rally Championship.

At the event Paddon told AutoTalk that the ongoing financial support from the New Zealand Hyundai dealer network is critical to his continued success in the WRC, and so far this year he has attended more than 17 Hyundai dealership events, meeting and greeting employees and customers as part of the sponsorship deal.

CTB performance and accessories director Colin Bakalich says the company is gearing up to provide Ford Performance parts to owners of the new 2015 Ford Mustang when it arrives later this year, so taking a spot at the Speedshow was critical to drive their message to dealers and customers.

Bakalich and his son Sam who manages the performance arm of the company, displayed a supercharged V8 Ford engine which is being developed by the CTB engineering team to generate somewhere in the region of 800 horsepower (596kW).

AutoTalk requested audience numbers from Speedshow but were told today that the confirmed numbers are not yet available but the show’s owner and organiser says he was happy with the overall turnout.

“Show numbers on Sunday were exceptional and it was great to see so many people come out to enjoy the show,” says CRC Speedshow managing director Ross Prevette.

“Numbers on Saturday were still pretty good considering the weather bomb that hit Auckland. So overall, we’re really happy.”
