The last-ever Lancer Evolution available to be sold new in New Zealand has found its way into the yard of a regional dealer.
After 23 years, ten generations, and 34 World Rally Championship round wins, the very last of Mitsubishi’s iconic Lancer Evolution sedans have left the production line.
Only 30 Final Edition Lancer Evolution models were made for New Zealand and the last one is now available from McVerry Crawford Mitsubishi in Palmerston North.
The ‘Silky White’ model comes complete with its own protective cover, personalised with the number 30.
“As the last of its kind, this Final Edition Evo – the ultimate Evo – is something of a collector’s piece,” says Mitsubishi head of sales and marketing strategy Daniel Cook.
“Unique upgrades make the Final Edition the most exciting Lancer Evo ever, with revised mapping of the 2-litre turbocharged MIVEC engine lifting power and torque to a massive 230kW and 421Nm”.
That is backed by other performance hardware, including Eibach springs, Bilstein shock absorbers and Brembo brakes.
Front seats are full bucket Recaro, with red accent stitching echoed on the steering wheel and the shift knob for the five-speed manual transmission.
The Final Edition rides on distinctive 18-inch BBS forged alloy wheels and features a standout gloss black roof and commemorative badges inside and out.
“The Final Edition does much more than bring down the curtain on a magical chapter of motoring history; it embodies the essence of all the driving excitement that the word ‘Evo’ calls to mind, with even greater performance and finesse,” says Cook.
“Any enthusiast who wants this life-changing experience for themselves needs to call McVerry Crawford on (06) 357 9029 straight away!”
