Countryman name plate makes a comeback

Countryman name plate makes a comeback

According to recent BMW trademark filings, it appears the name of the upcoming new crossover vehicle by Mini will be the Countryman. If this proves true, the renewed badge would go hand-in-hand with BMW’s current naming convention for its Mini line, which includes the extended-length Clubman in addition to the standard Cooper and convertible. Mini’s crossover vehicle is set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in production form as a 2011 model.

The Countryman, you might recall, was applied to the long-wheelbase versions of the Mini Cooper along with the name Traveller in some markets. It looks like the only thing left to re-invent for Mini is the Moke and with the current popularity of retro-inspired vehicles it can’t be ruled out.
