Climax Sports Racer – track day maniac

Climax Sports Racer fq

When bespoke carmaker Climax Cars was asked about its Sports Racer the response was clear. “We wanted to produce a radically different type of car that would be dramatically desirable as well as being an out-and-out enthusiast’s car.” Consider that achieved. The classically British Jaguar-esque shape is a real head turner particularly in that shade of racing green.

The Sports Racer isn’t just show and pumps out 450 horsepower — courtesy of a supercharged 4.6-litre Ford Racing V8. It’s a lot of power in a car that weighs just 907 kilograms. That’s a power-to-weight ratio of well, more than 450 horsepower per ton. The acceleration must be of the neck-snapping variety.

The fully-adjustable double-wishbone suspension at all four corners, ceramic brakes and a six-speed sequential Graziano GT ME1 gearbox should guarantee major track-day performance cred while the expected £92,000 asking price undercuts the Ariel Atom V8 by £30,000 and the Caparo T1 by over £60,000.

Only 200 are planned are planned for the production run.
