Challenge takes Mazda sponsorship to new heights

Malcolm-LawMazda New Zealand is teaming up with endurance runner Malcolm Law as he attempts one of New Zealand’s most ambitious challenges yet, the ‘High Five – 0 Challenge’.

Beginning February 7, 2015 Law will start his journey to scale 50 peaks in 50 days, the equivalent of 50 mountain marathons in as many days, in an effort to raise $250,000 for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand and to help create awareness around the issues surrounding depression and other mental health illnesses.

The ‘High Five-0 Challenge’ team will be supported with a branded Mazda BT-50 to transport the team throughout the challenge and help raise awareness as Malcolm undertakes his expedition through some of wildest parts of the country.

Mazda New Zealand vehicle sales and marketing GM Glenn Harris, says that when the Mazda team came across Malcolm’s story they were moved by the magnitude of the challenge and the motivation behind it.

“Malcolm’s determination to conquer a challenge of this scale is quite remarkable and all while raising money for a great cause. As a company founded on that same spirit, we’re looking forward to helping Malcolm achieve his goals through the High Five-0 Challenge.”

During the challenge Law will be ascending more than 101,000 metres, the equivalent to 530 ascents of the Sky Tower, running approximately 10 hours each day and climbing mountains up to 2000 metres above sea level.
