Caterham boosts production to match demand

Caterham R500

Caterham has recorded an increased demand for its iconic Seven roadsters and has responded by pushing up production levels by more than 10%. The carmaker recently attained European-wide homologation for its range of lightweight roadster and demand has reached above forecast levels with new markets still emerging.

The increase in demand means that Caterham will now produce about 420 units annually and will also have to add to the 45-plus workforce based at its factory in Kent, England. Additional staff will be recruited to the production side of the business to ease the increased pressure from an order book that is packed until mid-October.

The company is now in the process of launching a global sales drive, following from the success of the initial drive that opened up markets in France, Italy, Japan and Germany. So the future may bring more Caterham Sevens down here to NZ.
