C-Class Coupe to arrive mid-2016

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the C-Class Coupe in Germany which echoes the design philosophy of the larger S-Class Coupe.

It will arrive in New Zealand for sale in dealerships around mid-2016 according to the local distribution arm of the factory.

The svelte new Coupe is 15mm lower than the C-Class sedan and features a high beltline and frameless doors with free-standing exterior mirrors which Mercedes-Benz says underscores the vehicle’s sporty character.

According to Mercedes-Benz New Zealand public relation’s specialist Matt Bruce, the choice of engines and specification for the New Zealand bound models are as yet to be confirmed.

“We’ll look at what is available to us and will take some exciting models for our market, that is for sure,” says Bruce.

In Europe, the C-Class Coupe will be available from December 2015 with a selection of four petrol four-cylinder engines with 1.6-litre and 2-litre displacements.

The C 180 has an 115kw 1.6-litre petrol engine while the C 200 will have a 135kW version of the 2-litre engine

The C 250 will have a 155kW version of the 2-litre engine and the C 300 will have an 180kW version

There are two four-cylinder turbodiesel engines on offer, with a 125kW or 150kW output respectively.

Matching the C-Class sedan and wagon, the Coupe specification will include agility control suspension, optional air suspension, and optional AMG line packages.

Further specifications include lane keeping assist, attention assist, collision prevention assist, and Distronic Plus with steering assist and stop and go pilot.

Other available systems include active parking assist, 360-degree camera, traffic sign assist and adaptive high beam assist plus.
