British brand signs on as Lions top sponsor

The British and Irish Lions tour here next year has scored an additional boost with the re-signing of key sponsor Land Rover.

It’ll be the sixth time that Land Rover has taken the on the big sponsor mantle – supporting the tourists, of course.

Its rugby-supporting background stretches right back to the 1997 South Africa tour, and includes the Lions’ tour here in 2005 and the 2013 tour of Australia. And two World Cups.

Jaguar Land Rover NZ marketing manager James McKee says the brand has been at the heart of rugby from grassroots and upwards for over 20 years.

As principal partner and official vehicle of the British & Irish Lions will mean the logistics of getting the team and its management and support staff around events and promotional engagements.

“We share the same passion, resolve and integrity that sits within the core of the game. It makes sense then that Land Rover sponsor The British & Irish Lions for a sixth time,” says McKee.

“With more than 300,000 tickets expected to be sold, New Zealand’s ability to host major sporting events will again receive global attention. Land Rover is proud to help contribute to the success of world class rugby fixtures hosted here,” says McKee.
