Bringing the Fun. New Tiguan TSI

Volkswagen NZ introduces the new Tiguan TSI Trend and Fun in February 2012.

This petrol variant comes with a 2-litre turbocharged engine producing 132kW and a maximum torque of 280 Newton metres at 1,800rpm. The 6-speed Tiptronic Tiguan TSI has a combined fuel consumption of 8.7 l/100 km (equivalent to 203 g/km CO2).

New Volkswagen DNA extends into Tiguan TSI and has resulted in the Tiguan being dubbed baby Touareg. The Trend and Fun exterior features include green tinted, heat insulated windows, black roof rails and window surrounds and 17” Boston alloy wheels. A tyre pressure monitoring system and space and weight saving spare wheel both come as standard for extra peace of mind.

The Trend & Fun package includes 4Motion all-wheel drive, traction control and an approach angle of 18° as standard with an off-road package available adding under body protection, an increased approach angle of up to 28° and off-road electronic programme.

When it comes to safety, this Volkswagen clearly has plenty to offer: ESP Electronic Stabilisation Programme, six airbags, seatbelt monitoring and belt-up reminder, and Isofix child seat mounts. Another key factor for an SUV with a towing capacity of up to 2,000 kg is the trailer stabilisation programme that is integrated in the ESP system as a standard feature. With rear ParkPilot, fitting into that tight parking space has never been easier and an upgrade to Park Assist parallel parking assistant is also optionally available.

On the comfort side, and in its interior space layout, features that make even the base version a sophisticated and well-equipped car include Climatic air conditioning, new seat covers in “Pakata” design, height-adjustable front seats, newly designed air vent surrounds, electric parking brake with auto-hold feature, electric windows all around and electrically adjustable door mirrors, Multifunction display Plus and RCD 310 sound system with four loudspeakers and CD plus provision for Bluetooth and iPod connectivity.

Features carried over from the previous model include the front centre console with folding and height adjustable armrest, folding passenger seatback, storage drawers under the front seats, storage pockets and folding tables on the backs of the front seats and leather covered multi-function steering wheel and gear shift lever.

Dean Sheed, General Manager of Volkswagen NZ says “Tiguan TSI is a welcome addition to our already immensely popular compact SUV segment and has an entry price that will make Volkswagen SUVs even more competitive. Despite the great new price the Tiguan TSI is still a vehicle packed with quality features to make your life easier whether you‟re on or off the road.”

Tiguan TSI arrives at dealerships in February and retails from $48,750. Tiguan TDI is also available from RRP $53,250.
