BP again drops national petrol price but not diesel

Products-and-services-main-page-imageBP removed three cents per litre from the price of petrol across its nationally-owned company network today.

Another decrease in the cost of oil brings the price of petrol to a new 12-month low for New Zealand motorists.

This latest change brings unleaded 91 petrol to 176.9 cents per litre. Diesel prices remain unchanged at 95.9 cents per litre.

Z Energy led the charge with a three cent reduction last Tuesday but has since matched BP’s latest price cut

BP Communications Manager Shelley Brady says refined product costs had decreased again which enabled BP to pass the savings to petrol customers today.

“At the moment the NZ dollar is fairly flat, but we are monitoring this closely,” she says.

“Any drops in our dollar versus the US dollar can quickly offset the cost of product improvements,” says Brady.

BP national prices as at 11 February:

  • 91 Unleaded 176.9 cents per litre
  • 95 Unleaded Ultimate 185.9 cents per litre
  • 98 Ultimate 193.9 cents per litre
  • Diesel 95.9 cents per litre
