Boh Runga appointed Mazda Foundation ambassador

Kiwi musician and jewellery designer Boh Runga has joined the Mazda Foundation team as a brand ambassador.

The Foundation is funded through contributions from the sale of every new Mazda by the dealer network and three funding rounds are held each year selecting New Zealanders, community groups and charities needing financial assistance.

The Mazda Foundation, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, was established to give back to local communities and has gifted over $2.2million since its inception.

According to Mazda, Runga is the perfect fit for the foundation, whose work includes the provision of financial assistance to improve the awareness of New Zealand arts and culture.

Building from a music career that has seen international success with her multi award-winning band stellar* and a recent collaboration with Anika Moa & Hollie Smith, Boh has also established herself as a Kiwi fashion icon with her Boh Runga jewellery line.

Boh says she is proud to support the Mazda Foundation and is extremely honoured to be an ambassador.

Mazda foundation chair and Mazda NZ managing director, Andrew Clearwater says the Foundation is proud to have Runga on-board as an ambassador, and knows she is going to do a fantastic job.

“Boh is a Kiwi icon and we are thrilled to be receiving her assistance with helping improve the lives of New Zealanders in need,” says Clearwater.

Runga was presented with a Mazda CX-5 complete with bespoke branding which expresses her design aesthetics and jewellery line through elements of her feather motif.

“I’ll have to be on my best behaviour when I’m out on the road because everyone will know it’s me,” she says.

The closing date for the next round of Mazda Foundation applications is 30 September 2015.
