BMW boss collapses at motor show

krugerBMW chief executive Harald Krueger collapsed during the company’s Frankfurt Motor Show press conference.

The BMW event on Tuesday (local time) was canned after the 49-year-old fell shortly after it began.

Doctors treated Krueger after what BMW spokesman Maximilian Schoeberl described as a “moment of dizziness.”

A statement later said that Krueger’s condition is stable and he’s recovering well.

Aside from Krueger’s fainting incident, BMW has a lot to crow about at the Frankfurt show as the group (comprising BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce) has just posted its best-ever August with 156,437 deliveries, up 7.2% from last year.

That figure tracks closely with the first eight months of this year up 7.4% – putting it within reach of its best year so far. It has sold just over 1.4m vehicles YTD.

BMW announcements at Frankfurt include the company’s new M6 GT3 racecar, based on its stunning M6 Coupe.
