Big Boys Toys to showcase super cars

Big Boys Toys to showcase super cars

Big Boys Toys is back for its seventeenth year, with a lineup geared to excite again.

The event is scheduled for October 28 to 30 at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds.

This year visitors will get to sample supercars, including the 2017 Aston Martin DB11 which is being flown in for its first exhibition in New Zealand.

big boys toysIt will be in company with two of the world’s latest and greatest supercars headlining the ‘Driven Hall’ – the Ferrari F12 TDF, a 769bhp, track-ready, V12 monster, and the LaFerrari (also a first), a 789hp V-12 hybrid that gets a 161hp boost from an electric motor.

Land Rover is set, also for the first time, to feature its interactive Terrapod in an indoor demonstration, bringing to life the SUVs ability to navigate extreme slopes. The hydraulically-driven mobile ramps, which can be elevated up to eight metres in height on the Terrapod, create an artificial off road course which allows Land Rover Discovery passengers to experience the full range of the vehicle’s abilities.

The Driven Hall will feature an array of vehicles from those that can be driven home to vehicles that enthusiasts can only dream of owning, including the latest and greatest from Ford, Giltrap Group, Jaguar and Yamaha.

The most iconic car in television history – K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider – will also be on show.

The ‘garage and automania showcase’ will feature hot rods and tools ranging from race cars to street cars, D1NZ to super saloons and exotics to off roaders, while big diggers will find their way back to the ‘Auckland excavator operator champs’.

“The lineup of vehicles of all kinds is just stunning,” says event director Dean Wilson. “We’re so excited to be able to get these rare vehicles and to be the first to show them to New Zealand fans.”

Kids will not be left twiddling their thumbs as they will have a variety of amusements rides from which to choose, as well as the chance to be moto-cross stars in the Yamaha Rev Zone.

“From the thrills and spills of the ‘Milwaukee action arena’ to the five big halls of cars, bikes, electronics and products, this show has it all and will be the must-see attraction in Auckland this October,” Dean concludes.

For the past sixteen years Big Boys Toys has entertained over 35,000 people each year.
