Astra returns to Holden dealerships in 2015

Holden New Zealand dealers will have a very different line-up on their forecourt next year with three European-sourced vehicles joining the local Lion range.

It will be a touch of deja vu, as the Holden Astra hatch will return to New Zealand as a three-door hatch in GTC and VXR grades, and these two variants will be joined by the Cascada convertible and the Insignia VXR performance sedan.

Holden managing director Gerry Dorizas says that the European-sourced Astra, Cascada, and Insignia will be niche rather than volume models, but they will provide more choice for Holden customers.

GM international operations (GMIO) president Stefan Jacoby says the company would continue to bring products from GM’s portfolio to New Zealand and Australian customers to support a future for Holden.

“Holden and GMIO are undergoing a transformation that is committed to driving our markets toward success,” says Jacoby.

“We are focussed on the long-term fundamentals, such as ensuring Holden retains its proud Australasian identity.”
