Apple Pay option now available at BP’s retail site

MW-CW975_apple__20141020180840_MGBP New Zealand is bringing Apple Pay to its customers for secure in-store payment across BP’s entire New Zealand network.

The energy company says ANZ Banking customers, as well as BP customers, will benefit from the service.

Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. When customers use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers.

Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the secure element on the customer’s device.  A one-time unique dynamic security code is responsible for authorising each transaction.

“Our New Zealand customers have been asking us for faster and simpler purchasing, and we believe that Apple Pay delivers that solution for them,” says BP retail general manager Debi Boffa.

We’re always listening to our clients and looking for new ways to improve their in-store experience, so this is an exciting space for us,” says Boffa.

Apple Pay is easy to set up, and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by credit and debit cards. In stores, Apple Pay works with iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and later, and Apple Watch.
