The Cadillac CTS models are few and far between in New Zealand – New Zealanders don’t have the place in their hearts for the new Cadillacs like the Yanks do. Still, this CTS is worth mentioning because it’s almost totally new over the existing CTS. It only shares its instrument panel, console, headlamps, front fenders and grille with the sedan. It sits two inches lower and is two inches shorter, despite being on the same wheelbase.
There are some nice design tricks such as the flush door handles, hidden B-pillar, steeply raked windscreen and centre-mounted dual exhaust.
In the US they’ll get a 3.6-litre V6 producing 304hp and rear-wheel drive. Whether the end result gets to New Zealand is anyone’s guess. If it does, the BMW 3 Series and Audi A5 may have a run for their money.
