Why did the prostitute cross the road?

Pinching road signs is a bit of an underground student pastime here in NZ, or it used to be. The practice seems to most of us to be fairly stupid and pointless, but for some who indulge it can border on obsession. There are so many different signs to choose from and some specific areas of our country have unique signs.

While removing a Stop sign is a particularly bad idea for obvious reasons there are more popular options like any sign that has the words ‘wide load’ or one of the many signs that show the silhouette of often run down animals. My personal NZ favourite is probably the Pukeko crossing sign but my favourite from overseas was the Panther crossing signs I saw in Florida, which I absolutely had to stop and get a picture with. I said ‘was’ because I now have a new favourite international road sign .

This interesting creation resides in the city of Treviso in northern Italy and is understandably been causing a stir there. Many local drivers have been complaining that they don’t know what the sign actually means.

“I was driving in to work and saw this sign and had to slow down to get a proper look,” said 34-year-old, Dino Vezino.

That sounds like a good excuse to have prepared for crusing in the area but Dino explaines further: “I couldn’t believe it – the woman has a mini-skirt and high heels on and very big breasts. I just couldn’t work out what it was for? Does it mean I have to look out for prostitutes crossing or that they are available around here?”

It’s a good question and one that a few men in the Treviso area must know the answer to. The clue may be in the shape of the sign itself which is just like an upside down ‘Give Way’ sign, perhaps implying that instead of giving way you might just receive something instead. Regardless of the sign’s intent its a good idea, with high heels, massive breasts and a mini skirt a prostitute is hardly going to cross the road at the pace of a Grammar boy on Khyber Pass. So I guess it all just comes down to safety, if its stealing road signs or dealing with Italian prostitutes safety always comes first. Be careful out there folks.
