User friendly cars. Who decides? Hello Renault Clio, bye bye Ford Focus Zetec

September 13th, 2007 by darren

I took the Focus Zetec back to Ford today, and picked up a Renault Clio. You can tell that Ford designers have thought about the multiple target markets the Focus appeals to. One of these is older women, and you’ll notice in the Focus that everything is very clearly labeled. The stereo is easy to operate; buttons and switches are clear; etc. However, try as I might I could not figure out how to change the clock, which was set about 6 hours 17 minutes fast. The clock is on the stereo, but there’s no button that says ‘clock’, or ‘time’. I am a guy, and that means that I don’t do instruction manuals. The Focus was returned as chronologically incorrect as when I picked it up.
