Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Tokyo Motor Show

For the first time in ages I was actually stumped for what to say about a car. The problem with the Suzuki Grand Vitara Ltd is that it does everything very well for a budget price. With no significant bad points, and no outstandingly good points (apart from value for money), where do you start? Well, you’ll have to wait for the review to find out because I unblocked the writer’s block.

We’re in the middle of motor show fever again. There’s so much news it’s hard to know what to pick. Every manufacturer is either bringing out something sleek and grunty, or something that looks like a bubble and runs on either something beginning with ‘bio’ or electrons. The majority have YAUC (Yet Another Ugly Concept) syndrome, as you’ll see with the Suzuki PIXY that’s the lead news story today (click here).

So we have two ends of the spectrum by Suzuki: extraordinarily unusual concept cars with features that are novel, interesting or just plain ugly, then the Grand Vitara, a car that fulfills pretty much everything you’d need in an SUV, but does it without being offensive, ugly, quick, inflexible or novel.
